We plan to open the booking for the season on Monday 15 March at 9:00.
Unfortunately, we will only be able to accept bookings for those who can arrange their own transport to and from Huvudskär.
Information about prices and terms will be available here on the website a few days before the booking opens.
We will be open from mid-May to the last weekend in September.
Once upon a time, Huvudskär had a thriving fishing industry, with cod and herring as the main catches. Simple fisherman’s houses were erected, and in 1646 a chapel was also built, although it was later moved from Ålandsskär to Lökskär. The Russian Invasion in 1719 put an end to all that, completely destroying this fishing village. In the 19th century, a lighthouse was built on Huvudskär, and customs and pilotage staff lived on the island in big, new buildings – Lotshuset (Pilot House) and Tullhuset (Customs House). Today, the Archipelago Foundation owns these buildings and rents out rooms to the public.
