Björnö is the destination of families, exercise seekers and pensioners, and of cyclists, those who use wheelchairs, daytime visitors and young people from the Stockholm suburbs who have not previously visited the archipelago. In the summer, every nook and cranny has a sunbather, and every bay is a harbour.

The old cultural landscape on Björnö is now an easily accessible nature reserve, bathing paradise and popular location of organised camps. It’s easy to get here for a day out, by car or bus from Slussen. Or take your own boat into one of the many natural anchorages.

Just inside the entrance to the reserve there is the start of a nature ramble and car park from where a couple of easily accessible paths lead down to the fine bathing site at Torpesand with both cliff bathing and a long sandy beach. The jetty is suitable for those who use wheelchairs, and a snorkelling trail of lengths 200 metres along the seabed has been equipped with signs in Braille.

Camping sites and natural anchorages are spread throughout the reserve; kayaks are available for hire and there are several huts for shelter.
