Every day, all year round since 1959, the Archipelago Foundation has been working to preserve and develop a genuine archipelago.
We manage 40 nature reserves and maintain more than 2 000 buildings, including everything from lighthouses and inns to outhouses and jetties. Our farms and their grazing livestock ensure that we are able to maintain an open archipelago landscape.
We create the conditions for tourism and outdoor activities by allowing entrepreneurs to run hostels, restaurants, holiday villages and hotels in our buildings. Something that both creates employment and provides visitors with good services.
Through active and long-term conservation work, including the use of grazing livestock and supervision, we protect natural values that are appreciated by not only visitors, but also the flora and fauna.
