This group of islands is as far east as it is possible to get in the Stockholm archipelago. Many visitors have long held an ambition to visit Svenska Högarna, and may have waited many years for the weather and other conditions to be right, before venturing out here. This makes a visit something very special.
Personnel all year round
Svenska Högarna is one of few outlying places in the Stockholm archipelago that is still manned all year round. Its status as a manned area was under serious threat at the beginning of the 1980s, but an agreement between the parties involved meant that the Archipelago Foundation took over principal responsibility for personnel here from SMHI (the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute).
