Traces of the Russian invasion in 1719
This area was populated during the Middle Ages, and grew around the village of Sidö. There were 14 farms in the village at the beginning of the 18th century. The Russians burnt down the village in 1719 and set up camp at Kapellskär. This island still bears traces of the Russian invasion in 1719. A type of grass growing here is otherwise unique to Ukraine; Russian horses left the seeds here in their droppings.
