Drottninggrottan

Drottninggrottan is a cave named after Queen Maria Eleonora (1599-1655), who is reputed to have sheltered here when she fled from Sweden. The Queen was Gustav II Adolf’s consort, and came into conflict with the regency after the death of her husband, which led to her fleeing from Sweden.

Giant’s kettles and shingle fields

Just north of Stora Sand, 75 metres from the beach, is a well-preserved shingle field. Further north, there are potholes that were formed in the rock during the most recent ice age.

Bötsudden

Bötsudden is the northernmost point and offers superb views. There is also a cairn on the site where warning fires were once lit.
