Nature reserve symbol

The island has beautiful walks and bike tracks, and the forests are home to moose, roe deer and fallow deer. Scheduled ferries from Waxholmsbolaget service the island and there is a ferry service from Stavsnäs. The island offers B&B accommodation.

Ranger’s tips

The best thing about Nämdö is that it’s relatively large yet still undeveloped in many respects. The whole of the northern part is a nature reserve, where you can go for a ramble. There are also nature and cultural trails for those with inquiring minds.

Boats come to the island all year round, and it doesn’t take long to get out here for the day from the Stavsnäs or Björkvik jetty, for example. Go ashore on the northern side of the island, take a walk southwards and then take the boat home from there. You will pass not only beautiful pastures, but also the Östanvik farm shop, the archipelago museum with its interesting exhibitions, and Solvik, with its food store and restaurant.
