A long history

The Björnö nature reserve opens onto Nämdöfjärden and, like all of Ingarö, has a long history. There were four crofts on Björnö at the beginning of the 18th century, and by the middle of the 19th century, more than 30 people lived in these small cottages and worked their meagre allotments. Mounds of stone and overgrown pastures remind us of their endless toil.
