Nature reserve symbol

Björnö lies only 45 minutes by car or bus from central Stockholm. It is not only close to Stockholm; it possesses one of the finest beaches in the archipelago, making Björnö one of the Archipelago Foundation’s most visited reserve.

Ranger’s tips

The best seasons to visit are spring and autumn. The countryside is at its best then, and it’s nice and quiet for those who want to take a walk and just enjoy the surroundings. The path that takes you around Björnö is a good 5 km walk – do the whole walk, or turn off along one of the detours. If you want to see some animals, you can usually find sheep, horses and highland cattle at Näset and at Trappgärdet on the northwest side. Otherwise, the most popular spot here is the beach, Torpesand, with its lovely sand.
