Coal merchant Wilhelm Rönström commissioned the construction of a magnificent summerhouse on the island Stora Jolpan during the 1910s. The house was visible from afar, since no trees surrounded the building in those days. Utsikten today is a hostel. It was drawn by architect Ernst Stenhammar, who designed many stately homes in the archipelago, including the vast Art Nouveau house on Grinda and Ernst Thiel’s house on Fjärdlång. The Grand Hotel in Stockholm was also designed by Stenhammar.
